About Debb
Debb Masterson is a self-proclaimed spice gypsy, naturalist, world traveler, and founder of Minnesota Nice Spice. From a young age, Debb’s affinity for creating deliciously unique recipes was evident. She learned French culinary techniques from her grandmother and became a master of substitution and experimentation when faced with limited ingredients. (As the second child of five, it’s no wonder ingredients weren’t plentiful!) One of Debb’s favorite sayings is, “ Recipes are only suggestions, ideas to be altered, to make them more personal.”
A diverse career path that included working in restaurants, owning a neighborhood bar and grill, and selling medical devices and beverages, supported Debb’s love of food and also sparked an interest in the healing arts, which led to Debb’s strong belief in the healing properties of everyday herbs and spices.
Debb’s persistence and motivation earned her an Associate in Arts Degree with an emphasis in business management while working full time as a sales manager. In addition to earning her degree, Debb also won many awards for her hard work, including Rookie of the Year, Top Salesperson, and Top Sales Manager.
As a risk-taker with a true entrepreneurial spirit, it’s no surprise that Debb’s current venture combines all her life and work experiences, including her love for world travel. Debb has traveled to dozens of countries seeking out native spices and global healing products and has channeled her unique experiences into each of her Minnesota Nice Spice Seasoning Blends.
Debb believes in a “do-good, live well” philosophy. That’s why she shares a bit of her good fortune by donating a portion of her organic seasoning blend sales to the Interact Center For Artists With Disabilities, a place near and dear to her heart, as it is an organization that supports and nurtures her “special” sister Lucy’s artistic talents, in addition to helping hundreds of other artists with disabilities throughout Minnesota.
Debb is a native Minnesotan who currently resides in Minneapolis with her husband and sister Lucy.
